Another ski season is approaching.
While we had hoped for a “return to normal”, it remains to be seen what the new normal is. However, based on last seasons’ usage I am confident that we will be able to offer a safe, affordable place to ‘get your ski on’ in the coming season. We do not anticipate any occupancy restrictions but are requiring all lodge users to attest to having been vaccinated OR have a negative COVID test within 2 weeks of your stay. This is, of course, subject to change. And it goes without saying, if you feel under the weather in any way PLEASE do not go to the Lodge. We will work with you to reschedule your stay or provide a refund.
What’s new this season?
Due in part to changing demographics of lodge users, in the downstairs bedroom a set of bunks has been removed and the bottom of one of the remaining bunks converted to a ‘king size’ bed. The overall capacity of the bedroom has been reduced from 6 to 5 (unless you put 3 in the king bed!). These make an ideal room for a family. For couples, these will be offered with a ‘private use‘ option in ski season at a $30 per night premium over standard lodge rates. As an example, a member couple wishing private use would pay $90 per night (2 members @$30 each plus $30 premium), or a member and guest would pay $100 per night (1 member @$30, a guest @$40, plus $30 premium). Private use should be requested at the time you make a reservation, and may not be available at all times.
Folks will also notice 2 new electrical outlets, each with 2 USB ports, in each downstairs bedroom. This will free up outlets by the boot cubbies that were being crowded with charging cables. Thanks to Chuck Wright for installing these!
Scheduled lodge trips will be returning!
Our traditional ‘Hunt for Snow’ will take place the weekend before Christmas (Dec 17-19). Come up for some early-season skiing and do some last-minute gift shopping! And snow conditions permitting, we will have a Mid-Week Mid-Winter XC (or downhill) trip Jan. 10-14. Watch your email for more details.
We are planning two work weekends for the last weekend of October (this is Halloween weekend, 29-30-31) and the first weekend in November (5-6-7). Depending on sign-up, we hope to accomplish the following:
- prep and paint the downstairs bedrooms (2 teams of 2 could tackle this)
- prep and paint the bathrooms (1 team of 2 should be adequate)
- check kitchen sink cold water feed for blockage (someone skilled in plumbing would be good!)
- deep cleaning and mouse control (1 or two folks)
- place new firepit ring
- general outside cleanup
Meals will be provided, and as in the past there will be chits for one free night’s stay for every day worked. If you are interested, please send an email to Mike Fernandez (amf22000@yahoo.com) or text to 6092548461. Indicate your preferred weekend and any food restrictions (chili is planned, and can be done as a vegetarian option).
Wish List – we could use the following items at the Lodge. If you have these items laying about unused, consider donating them!
• good knives
• toaster (preferably four slice, but two is fine)
We hope you can make it up this season! Please contact the lodge manager with any comments or questions.
And remember you can check the lodge calendar on the Buck Ridge website to make a request and see real-time availability.
